Operation Christmas Box entertains supporters at the Royal Hospital Chelsea
At the Operation Christmas Box Christmas Lunch 2010, sponsors Cooneen Watts and Stone submitted the highest bid for the Royal Hospital Chelsea exclusive tour and lunch for six persons. The company kindly donated the prize to Operation Christmas Box to invite their own guests.
The tour and lunch eventually took place in June 2011 and was thoroughly enjoyed by the charity’s supporters. Colonel Mark Baker, Captain of Invalids at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, led a very interesting tour, with fascinating information about the history of the RHC and the ‘men in scarlet’ which now includes three women. This was followed by a delicious three course lunch in the Great Hall which is currently used by the In-pensioners as their dining room. The Great Hall has a varied history, including the Duke of Wellington’s body lying there in state in 1852.
Operation Christmas Box trustees wish to thank Cooneen Watts and Stone, and Colonel Baker for a very enjoyable day.
